Nashville Star Update

Now that the bachelorette is over and she is happy with Jesse. I had it wrong...my Monday nights are spent watching Shawn Mayer perform.

How Exciting...We went to actually see Shawn Mayer in May City, IA last night and it was FUN!!! Of course we weren't front row but we weren't last either. There was over 3,000 fans there to cheer her on. So if you haven't watched this gutsy gal with a WHOLE lot of Country in her...If you haven't voted yet, YOU NEED TOO!!

Celebrating Independence Day 2008

In my eyes it wouldn't be Independence Day without flying the American Flag.
As most of us know the 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 US States and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 Colonies. Nicknames for the flag include the stars and stripes, Old Glory, the American flag, and the star-spangled banner.
This Independence Day we celebrated by camping at G-Pa's farm. (as Malissa some times calls him)

We played washers. It is a fun game. You have either 2 or 4 players and you have to throw this "3 inch washer " to the opponentsboard and you get points for which every hole your washer goes in. ZERO points if you miss. Really fun to play.



G-Pa also made home-made ice cream. As you can see the little ones are enjoying the scrapings off the paddle. If you don't recognizecouple of the boys they are friends of our that came camping with us for the weekend.



And Uncle Denny Joe is getting his taste too.

All and all it was a wonderful weekend.
We ended the weekend of course with SPARKLERS!!!!!

Nashville Star

Not sure how many of you have been watching Nashville Star on NBC on Monday nights but there is a gal Shawn Mayer on there from Northwest Iowa and she needs your votes. She is a gutsy gal and I have actually heard her sing right here in my home town two years ago for our annual Cobblestone Day celebrations. So of course I am partial to her. I however have to admit that I don't watch the entire show when it airs live but record it on my DVR. You see I have to watch the Bachelorette since it is on at the same time. And I don't miss this show. Go Jason!!!

Cobblestone Days

Cobblestone Day was fun. Malissa and her friend Maycee were asked to carry the flag for the Grand Marshall. So of course Mom had to take a day off from work and do some shopping for matching out fits for them to wear. They were so adorible. Soon as they walked the parade route caring the flag they had to hurry to get back in line and ride on another float. This time for Shortee's Pit Stop. Which is a business that Maycee's family owns. R.J and his friend also rode along. R.J on his new some kind of 4-wheeler. They rode the bikes around the Shortee's Pit Stop float.

Zachary however on this day played in a baseball tournement. The team played one on Friday night and lost but came back Saturday morning and played 4 more games. Ended up losing the final round by just one run. But over all the first inning of this game there where 6 runs batted in but there is some silly "5-Run" rule so in my eyes...They TIED!!
