Being Indispensable...
The One Place You’ll Always Be Indispensable
— Here’s the “job” that holds the real key to success —
Career guidance wasn’t exactly my parents’ strong suit.
“Study math and science,” Dad would say.
Good advice, but little help to someone inclined towards languages and music.
“Make yourself indispensable at work,” Mom advised.
That makes sense, but overlooks a harsh reality: if your sole ambition is to be completely indispensable in your job, you will never move onward or upward.
More to the point, who among us is truly indispensable within our organizations?
The truth is, no one — especially in today’s rocky economy. Millions of workers worldwide are now discovering just how disposable they really are.
But regardless of what happens at work, there’s one place where you will absolutely, positively, always be essential.
It’s your most important role in the world. It’s a job that, when improperly done, triggers serious social problems faced by every society on earth.
It’s the one “career” that holds the key to success in life and love. It’s the place where you’ll do the most important work of your life.
Where’s the place? What’s the role?
At home — in your role as a wife, mother, husband, father, daughter, or son.
No one can ever replace you at home. No one.
“You can always go out and get a new job,” he said, “but you can’t get a new family.”
Times are tough and bound to get tougher. So, in what may seem like an unraveling world, let’s remember one place where we’re truly irreplaceable — and always will be: home.

Very well stated, Mr. Leno...
1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?
Because we were always outside playing...that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times,we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas..
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.. If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:
'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Praying for Mattymatt...
I came across this blog today...what a cute baby...but sadly to say he isn't long for this earth...If you care to read more click his button.
Some of you probably wonder why it is I choose to follow some of the blogs I do...Well...I really don't know except I find comfort in their words...I mean the amazing faith these families have after everything they have gone through...and if by reading strangers blogs I can learn more about the Lord above and his works on this earth today then why not follow? Miracles still happen in todays world...we just have to be open to the idea that "we" are his miracles.

Ten Things Tuesday...
- WooHoo!! I am so more PROUD more then anything. Of my nephew who is going to state this week for Wrestling. He is an awesome kid. GO TY-MAN!! I'll be listening so Mar...I better get a text with times. :) So I can have the radio on LOUDLY! Maybe over the loud Speakers so the whole square/town will hear? ;-) Wink, wink!
- That I was able to make it to the Distric wrestling meet this past Saturday and watch Tyler Win!
- The sun is still shining. Weather may get yucky later today/night but I'll take all the sun I can get right now.
- That yesterday when my hubby blew a tire on the trailer, while hauling a skid loader he was able to control everything and not get hurt. Whew!
- The new secretary we hired absolutely knows what she is doing and will be a HUGE help with the Business.
- For all the clothes my daughter has been given her from her best Friend. Yup they are the same age but size is a lil different.
- That I have time to be at home this week. Last week was so busy I met myself coming and going.
- That lil Veiyah's roller coater ride looks like it's on the up and up. So thanks to all her praying warriors for getting those knees dirty. But please continue...
- That the water in my garage is almost all dried up. The way the alley runs and where my garage sits it all runs right in. So hopefully this Spring will will have a new garage and new driveway and "FIX" this problem. But for now it is dry.
- I want to make a special "thanks" to the Lord Above for all the Blessings he has given my family. We receive everyday and need to learn to be grateful in return. So with that. Thank You, Lord.

My Valentine Gift...10 years ago
2007 we took Malissa up town for Supper ans the restaurant knew we were coming so they made her a special cookie,
Well on Valentine's Day it will be my Babies tenth Birthday. So hard to believe she is growing up so fast. If I had a way to scan in a baby picture of her I sure would but I have only had a digital camera for a lil over two years so here is a flash back picture of her then. She hasn't changed to much. I want my daughter to know that I thank God for her and that I love her with all my might and I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Ten Things Tuesday...

- That I can wake all three kids every morning for school. I woke my daughter up this morning and smiled at her and her comment to me was..."Mom, you seem Happy." If that wasn't the Sweetest words.
- That my job doesn't begin till 8AM and I can be home with them in the morning and take Malissa to school every morning. Even though it is only three blocks.
- That my job gives me the flexibility to come in late today since I had to meet with the banker at 8AM and sign tons of paper work. For my husbands company had to have a name change. When we filed for an EIN number our name was taken so now we are R & L General Contracting, Inc. Oh the paper trails...
- That the baby shower on Sunday went ok. I was so nervous. I usually don't let things bother me...but this I was a little FrEaKeD!
- That I own a JEEP...to get to the Shed it it a muddy mess. I'm thinking a car would get stuck. Chatted with the City Boys today and there isn't a whole lot we they can do till Spring when the thaw in gone. So for now...Weeeee...in the mud.
- For Excedrin PM...I think this is the only way I can get a good night sleep. I go...go...go and I should sleep but I sleep about 4 hours and toss and turn the rest of the night.
- For the Sun shining today...It has been such a long winter and there sre some people who really need the uplift in spirits. It's amazing what a little sunshine will do for you.
- For my patience...Some days dealing with landlords can be difficult. You can only imagine some of the conversations I have with them.
- That my council meeting only lasted one hour...I was able to get home and watch the Bachelor. Who do you think? It's down to Jillian, Molly and Melissa. According to the gossip it's Melissa but then DeAnna comes back. Oooooh...I can't wait till next week.
- That I have a NEW Great nephew...Conner Allen...born last week. But so sad I'm still trying to see a picture of him. I'm sure he is a cutie.
